Cultivating Belonging, Trust, and Connection

Educator and storyteller Dr. Ada Cheng will lead a workshop on how to build community by exploring personal histories, identities, and shared community values through the art of storytelling.

Award-winning storyteller Dr. Ada Cheng will share her own journey as an Asian-American, immigrant storyteller. Her workshops seek to provide participants with the skill set to build trust and connection with others through storytelling.

Some questions that may be explored in the workshop:

• Why is storytelling important to our understanding of the connection between personal and collective experiences?
• How can we use stories to illustrate our shared humanity despite our differences?
• What does community-based storytelling mean? How do we cultivate a sense of belonging, trust, and connection among all?
• How can we strategically use storytelling to address pertinent social concerns of our time?

We encourage attendees to actively engage with other participants during the workshop.
