Join us for a 3-part virtual book club, in which we'll read The Whole-Brain Child, and meet on Zoom for rich & lively discussion. Gateways-approved for 6 PD hours. FULL attendance REQUIRED for credit.

  • Please sign up with the understanding that this is not a confirmation of participation, but that you will be contacted by the organizers to confirm your registration.

  • Please be able to pick-up your free copy of The Whole-Brain Child from the Niles-Maine District Library. We will be providing you with your own free paperback copy of this book. Having access to the book is an important and necessary component of your commitment when signing up

  • This workshop series is a limited enrollment opportunity, with the possibility of being repeated if there is significant interest. In order to participate and receive Gateways to Opportunity credit, your attendance at all three sessions is mandatory

  • Because of limited space, this series of book clubs is currently only available to teachers seeking Gateways-approved credits. The full series of the 3 book clubs is Gateways-approved for 6 PD hours. As stated above, FULL attendance is REQUIRED for any credit. If you miss a book club, you will not receive credit for the any others you attended.

  • If this book club fills up, there will be an waitlist. Joining the waitlist does not register you for the book club. You will be contacted to join only if there is a space that opens up.

Further Details About the Book Club
Join us for a three-part virtual book club to explore, discuss, and put into practice this approach to caregiving that focuses on how to foster healthy brain development, which in turn can lead to calmer and happier children.
Over the course of the book club we will explore together the science of how a child’s brain is wired and how it matures, gaining an understanding about how the “upstairs brain,” which makes decisions and balances emotions, is under construction until our mid-twenties. By learning more about and applying strategies covered in the book, you as a teacher and/or caregiver will gain insight to help promote and encourage healthy emotional development in children and enhance your capacities in how to best react and respond to their needs.

Important Info Regarding Zoom Link
You MUST be registered AND receive an email from the organizers in order to attend. A Zoom link to join the meeting will be sent out the morning of each book club. If you do not receive the invite by 5pm on the day of the book club, please contact April Lee at
